On July 11th, the China International Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. Hydrogen Energy Industry Development Consulting Center and the Expert Academic Committee for Industrial Development, in conjunction with the industry consulting firm Energy景Research, held the "2025 Hydrogen-Based Energy Green Development Forum" in Beijing and released the "2025 Global Hydrogen Energy Industry Development Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Development Report"), which provides in-depth analysis and judgment on the global hydrogen energy industry development overview and the progress of China's hydrogen energy industry chain.

Pan Xiaohai said that as a national high-end think tank and a central state-owned enterprise engaged in comprehensive engineering consulting, the CEC has taken the Hydrogen Energy Industry Development Consulting Center as the starting point, actively participating in major policy research, major project evaluation and major planning compilation in the hydrogen energy field around the national top-level design needs, supporting national policy decision-making with think tank construction, and guiding the scientific and healthy development of the hydrogen energy industry. In view of the future development of hydrogen-based energy in China, Zhang Lai Bin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former president of China University of Petroleum (Beijing), delivered a keynote speech titled "Safety and Emergency Assurance Technology for Hydrogen Energy Production, Storage, Transportation, and Utilization". He analyzed the opportunities and challenges of the hydrogen energy industry, safety issues, and development trends. Zhang Lai Bin believes that to achieve high-quality development of hydrogen energy, it is inseparable from these three key points: economy, safety, and convenience. From the production of hydrogen energy to storage, transportation, and energy use, there is a need for innovative safety assurance theories and technologies as long-term support. It is necessary to further strengthen the safety operation and risk control of the entire life cycle of hydrogen energy to promote the high-quality development of hydrogen energy in China.
The Development Report released by the China Consulting Company has systematically sorted out the global hydrogen energy industry development and pointed out that the global hydrogen energy is moving from the policy vision stage to a critical period of target quantification and industry deployment. The Development Report shows that in 2024, the domestic hydrogen energy technology innovation has achieved fruitful results, and the overall technical level of the industry has rapidly leaped. Looking forward to the new stage, China's hydrogen energy industry should strengthen technology research and development and application demonstration according to the requirements of high-quality development, effectively promote cost reduction and efficiency improvement and scientific layout, and accelerate the formation of new productive forces.
The Development Report puts forward the following trend judgments: First, a new growth point has emerged in the demonstration and application of various technologies, and new technologies such as hydrogen blending in natural gas, liquid hydrogen, offshore wind power hydrogen production, and AEM hydrogen production are worth focusing on. Second, domestic and foreign cooperation in hydrogen-based energy has become key, and domestic and foreign certification cooperation, industrial chain cooperation, and technology cooperation are important foundations for the high-quality development of hydrogen-based energy. Third, technology reliability has become the focus of consideration in the commercialization stage of hydrogen energy, and reliable factory inspection, sufficient long-term performance, and a full life cycle of the protection plan are important factors for the marketization stage of hydrogen energy products. Fourth, digitalization and intelligence will become one of the core competitivenesses, and digital twin technology, artificial intelligence and big data analysis, real-time monitoring and automated control, etc., will be more integrated into the research and development and application of hydrogen energy technology.
The focus of this forum is on industry and professionalism. Industry experts from China National Petroleum Corporation, China Huadian, State Energy Group, State Grid, Guotou Biotechnology, Zhejiang University, Tongji University and other units have shared their experience around major hydrogen energy projects, major technological equipment and other industry frontiers and project construction. The forum invited guests from the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, China National Petroleum Engineering Co., Ltd., State Power Investment Group, China Quality Certification Center and other units to attend the roundtable forum, to jointly discuss the development challenges and opportunities of hydrogen-based energy in various fields by 2025. Nearly 200 industry guests were invited to attend the forum. The forum was also live-streamed online.
